What split bamboo slat fencing is, how it differs from round-cane screening, the sizes, and how to put it up — a refined, natural way to get instant privacy.
Split bamboo slat fencing is one of the neatest ways to add instant, natural privacy to a garden. Bamboo canes are split into flat slats and woven onto wire, giving a finer, more refined face than round-cane screening. Here's what it is, the sizes, and how to put it up.
What is split bamboo slat fencing?
It's natural bamboo split lengthwise into narrow, flat slats, then woven side by side onto a galvanised wire framework and supplied on a roll. The flat face sits flush against a fence for a clean, uniform, dense screen with warm golden tones.

Split slats vs round-cane screening
Round-cane screening keeps the whole cane, giving a chunkier, more rustic line. Split slats are flatter and finer, so they read as more refined and contemporary and sit closer to a flat fence. Both give excellent privacy — it comes down to the look you want.
Sizes and finishes
Standard rolls are 4 m and 5 m long, in heights of 100, 150, 180 and 200 cm. Slats are about 9–13 mm wide, woven with galvanised wire at 10 cm (denser) or 20 cm spacing, in a natural or black finish. Custom sizes are available to project.

How to put up split bamboo slat fencing
- Fix it to a solid support — an existing fence, wire, or timber posts every 40–60 cm.
- Unroll along the line with the flat face outward and keep the top edge level.
- Fasten with cable ties or staples through the wire, every 20–30 cm.
- Keep the bottom edge just off the ground so it stays dry.
- Trim to length with shears; overlap joins by a few centimetres.

Frequently asked questions
What heights does it come in?
Standard heights are 100, 150, 180 and 200 cm, on 4 m and 5 m rolls, with custom sizes to project.
Is it more private than round bamboo?
Both are dense and near-solid. Split slats give a flatter, finer face; round cane a chunkier, more rustic one — privacy is similar.
Can I fix it to an existing fence?
Yes — that's the most common use. Cable-tie or staple it straight over a wire or panel fence to hide a tired boundary.
