Moso bamboo's hollow, jointed structure requires cutting and reassembly to improve uniformity and strength. Untreated bamboo is susceptible to mold, necessitating protection through carbonization or environmentally friendly finishes. Modern construction demands metal connectors or bonding techniques to replace traditional binding methods.
